Dead spin: Panasonic discontinues Technics analog turntables

TOKYO (TR) – Fans of analog musicwere dealt another blow when consumer electronics company Panasonic announced earlier this month that it would be discontinuing the audio products within its Technics brand, most notably the legendary line of analog turntables.
On October 20, the company said that it was winding down production of the Technics SL-1200MK6 analog turntable, the SH-EX1200 analog audio mixer and the RP-DH1200 and RP-DJ1200 stereo headphones due to challenges in the marketplace.
“Panasonic decided to end production mainly due to a decline in demand for these analog products and also the growing difficulty of procuring key analog components necessary to sustain production,” the company said in statement issued to The Tokyo Reporter.

How did Apple add Ableton's Time Warp to Garage Band?

Just watched the live coverage from Apple's Keynote and the one thing that stood out to was the a feature added to Garage Band called "Flextime". It allows you time stretch audio just you can in Ableton Live. The crazy part its only $49 to upgrade to this new feature.

DMC is allowing laptops to be used in 2011!

It's a new age when the DMC is allowing DVSs to be used starting in 2011. Does this mean next year's DMC should be sick!

DMC goes Digital.

Bangin The Box Vol. 5 (Re-Edit) - Bad Boy Bill

More Bad Boy Bill to get you hyped about the weekend!

Bad Boy Bill - 1989 DMC DJ Battle

One my all time favorite DJs, a turntablist turn House DJ/Producer, his cuts are crazy. But what I always me or least got looking forward when buying his mix cds was the multimedia aspect of it. He would at least a promo video mix that always got me hyped, something no one was doing then, till this day no has.

God's a DJ

Limited Edition Pioneer HDJ-1000 Headphones look sweet!

I brought my first pair of Pioneer Headphones back in '96-97, they were the best thing since sliced bread. Till than, I always brought cheap headphones, once I got my hands on a pair of good of cans, I can finally hear the music I was trying mix clearly now. I went through 2 pairs till about 2008, when I got the Sony MDR-700s, which are also great, but these gold limited editions make me want a pair of Pioneers again.

Watching this film, opens up my eyes to world I never fully experienced. The closes I have came was going to parties was from '92-'97, such as "Underground Network" Parties at Sound Factory Bar, hosted by Baraber Tucker and Don Welch with Lil Louie Vega mixing it up. The thing that drew me to this party was the music and the friendliness of the crowd. I was there almost religiously every Wednesday, from 10pm till lights came on. There's was nothing like it at the time for me, the music was always on point never random like the other clubs I would go to on the weekends. Everybody came prepared to dance, its not a fashion as it is today. And there was never any fights, because everybody got along no matter your status, background or color.

Part 1:

RiP! A Remix Manifesto

I watch this film little over a year, its great piece about copyright laws and music. If you can past the fact that Girltalk, is being featured in this film you will learn a lot about sampling. And who really owns the rights to your favorite tunes.
